PirTano Construction Company performed the site utility work for the Lincoln Park Zoo Nature Boardwalk and South Pond Renovation. We installed a sewer and water service at the new Toilet and Storage Kiosk. For the sewer installation we had to install a sewer lift station by the Kiosk and directional bore a 2” poly to the existing structure in the Hooved Stock Habitat Area.
In the South Pond we constructed a new cast in place concrete outfall structure and connected it to the existing Zoo sewer system. Also for the South Pond we build an 8” ductile iron pipe makeup water piping system. This was connected to the existing Zoo water main. From there we installed a water meter, backflow preventer with hot box and float valve to control the pond elevation.
In addition to our contract work we reconstructed all of the downspouts for the Café Brauer area of the Zoo. We installed new piping which was run to a new sewer lift station that we installed in one of the islands of the concrete walk. From this point we directional bored 2” poly under the entrance and out to an existing structure at the Stockton Drive turnaround.
